Galvani's Animal Electricity

Luigi Galvani's 1791 experiments demonstrating that electrical stimulation of frog nerves caused muscle contraction discovered bioelectricity and laid the foundation for electrophysiology. His work sparked the galvanism movement and eventually led to understanding that neural communication is fundamentally electrical.
